Track is not for everyone. It’s hot, it’s cold. It’s long days and late nights. It’s running to warm up, and running to compete. As the season begins these boys have brought home several medals for individual and team results.

“It was my dream to run track,” Junior Anthony Grimaldi said. “I used to watch it on TV.”

Everyone had a different reason for joining the team, but the general consensus was, they’re glad they did.

“This is my first year but I like the exercise and it keeps me out of trouble,” Senior Carsen Berry said.

Those that had been a part of the team prior to this year extended that team bond and enjoyed more successes.

“I enjoy being with friends and team mates and how we encourage and give each other support,” Sophomore Edmund Franklin said.

Freshman Robert Whitmarsh finished the 400 meter relay strong at the Gulf Coast Classic finishing in sixth place with a time of fifty-two seconds.

“The season is going well. I’ve  had great coaches helping me get better and awesome team mates who push me to do my best,” Whitmarsh said.

Eddie Woodruff passed the baton to Marquelle Maxie in the 4×100 meter relay at the Gulf Coast Classic held at Hopper Stadium.

“I enjoy running track because it helps me get better for football,” Woodruff said. “I run several events but mostly short distance because I am fast, but I can’t run for a long time.”

Talon Jamison sprinted to the finish during the 800 meter at the Gulf Coast Classic. Talon has been running competitively for six years.

“I love track because I love running competitively and the people,” Jamison said. “Track is something I have used to release anger, stress, and sadness.”
